Legacy System Modernization and Optimization
In 2020, Soliel initiated a mission to modernize a legacy DoD Document System built in the 1990s. The legacy system was cumbersome, requiring extensive manual processes to manage military standards. Further encumbered with an outdated Information Assurance (IA) posture, the legacy system required expensive hardware and software updates for operation and maintenance support. Several prior attempts were made to modernize the legacy system before Soliel’s involvement in the program. However, numerous challenges led to unsuccessful outcomes.
Soliel’s team of software and security experts worked closely with the government team, reviewing all user requirements, analyzing each component of the legacy system, and surveying alternative technology platforms to identify the optimal replacement for the archaic legacy platform. After conducting an Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) and an extensive Proof of Concept (POC), Soliel proposed a modern commercial platform to replace the legacy system, which received government approval. Soliel then began building the new document system, revolutionizing the military standard management process, and effectively fortifying the new system to meet stringent DoD security requirements.
The new system drastically improved performance, reducing standard generation time from one day to less than one hour, thereby saving users numerous hours and significantly enhancing overall operating efficiency. Additionally, the new system eliminated data entry errors, guaranteeing accuracy and consistency across all military standards while offering maximum flexibility. License costs were reduced by 50% compared to the legacy platform.
